DESCRIPTION:8 Hour – Emergency Responder Refresher Training\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirement:\nOSHA 1910.120(q)\n\n\nDuration:\n8 Hours (8am-5pm)\n\n\nCost:\n$400 per individual\n\n\nDescription:\nOSHA requires that HAZWOPER Technician employees receive periodic refresher training. This 8hr course is intended for students who have completed the 24hr Emergency Response Team Training and who require classroom instruction and hands-on training to fulfill their refresher training requirement.\n\n\nScope:\nThis course covers: \n\nAmmonia Industry Related and OSHA Updates\nAmmonia Accident Reviews in the News\nProcedures for handling emergency responses\nWritten emergency response plans\nHazards confronting responders\nMaterial safety data sheets and terms\nHealth effects of ammonia and other chemicals\nHow to plan/prepare for emergencies\nHow to decontaminate responders and neutralize/clean up ammonia spills\nProtective clothing\nSelf contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA’s) and respirators\nConducting mock scenarios with SCBA’s and encapsulating suits\n\n\n\n\nPrerequisite:\n24 Hour Emergency Response Team Training\n\n\nWho should attend:\nMembers of management\, engineering\, maintenance\, refrigeration\, safety\, production\, human resources and security. As a\nresult\, the response team will have a more efficient management of equipment for\nduring an actual emergency response situation. \nScenarios are planned that will simulate conditions indicating that a spill\nor leak has occurred. The teams will form and lay out all their emergency\nequipment\, using the newly designed staging area. They will assess the situation\nand determine what emergency equipment they will need to stop the leak. The\nteams will then approach the spill and simulate the repair. Critiques will then\nbe held to look for weaknesses or changes that should be made in the future\nscenarios. All personnel will be given the opportunity to wear the SCBA and wear\nthe fully encapsulating training suit in practice. \nAt some point during the day the attendees are required to take a 25 question\nexamination and upon satisfactorily passing\, will be awarded an 8 hour refresher\ncertificate and an emergency responder identification wallet card to be used\nwhen responding to actual spills. \nRegister
